The advertised Lotto Max jackpot has reached $85 million after the October 9 draw produced no top-prize winner, according to CTV News. The broadcaster reports that the amount is the largest jackpot yet offered across Canadian lottery brands.
The next draw is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13. Announcements from OLG and Loto-Quebec cited by CTV also list an estimated 16 Maxmillions prizes of $1 million each and 85 MaxPlus prizes of $100,000 each. Those are separate prize categories, rather than components of the $85-million main jackpot.
OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti told CTV that the main prize would rise to $90 million if the next draw again has no jackpot winner. That is a conditional increase, not the amount currently advertised. At the $90-million ceiling, the jackpot would remain unchanged while additional prize categories could grow. MaxPlus has a cap of 90 prizes.
The distinction matters when comparing the figures: the jackpot, supplementary prizes and maximum possible future jackpot describe different things. CTV reports that the higher jackpot ceiling was announced in April. These amounts reflect the report updated October 10, before the next scheduled draw.
