Information you submit

Contact, correction and advertising forms collect your name, email and message. Depending on the form, you may also supply an article link, a passage to check, supporting evidence, a company name, website, dates or budget. We use those details to handle the enquiry and related correspondence. Please include only information needed for that purpose.

Form delivery and email

Forms submit to FormSubmit, which processes delivery and spam protection, and forwards the message to our Gmail inbox. These providers process information under their own policies. They may process data outside Canada. A form submission is not a newsletter subscription. Canada Showcase currently does not offer an email mailing list.

Browser storage

The site stores saved article identifiers under cs-saved and your appearance preference under cs-theme in local browser storage. These preferences remain on your device, are not synced as a reader account and can be removed by clearing site data. Removing bookmarks in the site also removes those identifiers from the saved list.

Hosting, images and external services

Hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, URLs and browser details to deliver and protect the site. Some article images load from the credited source’s servers, which can receive ordinary request information. Opening an external source or social sharing link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices. We do not control those external sites.

Advertising and cookies

Google AdSense site verification is present. Advertising delivery is currently disabled on this version of the site. If advertising is enabled, this policy and the applicable consent controls must reflect the services used. Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to personalise ads based on visits to this and other websites. Google’s advertising settings provide choices about personalised advertising; participating vendors may also offer opt-out choices.

Accounts and restricted access

Reading articles does not require an account. The private editorial workspace uses Sign in with ChatGPT for authorised access. That sign-in may share basic profile information with the site and use session cookies. Public readers do not need to sign in to contact us or read coverage.

Retention and requests

Correspondence may remain in our inbox until deleted; a fixed deletion schedule has not been established. Providers have separate retention practices. To request access to, correction of or deletion of information you submitted, use the general contact form and identify the message without resending sensitive details. We may need information to verify that the request concerns you and may retain material needed for security, unresolved disputes or legal obligations.

Your choices and policy changes

You can clear local site data or adjust cookie controls in your browser. Blocking storage may affect bookmarks, appearance preferences or sign-in. Do not submit a form if you do not wish the supplied information to be processed for the enquiry. Policy changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
