Our editorial principles.
A clear perspective begins with a clear approach to the work.
Accuracy before speed
We distinguish confirmed facts from claims, analysis and opinion. News summaries identify the original reporting and link to their sources. When information is incomplete or disputed, we say so.
A Canadian perspective
We focus on decisions that affect people across Canada, with attention to regional differences and the wider world. Government statements, campaign messages and partisan claims are attributed to their source.
Sources and AI transparency
AI-assisted summaries carry a disclosure and credit the source publication. An editor must review a draft before it is published. A summary is not presented as our own on-the-ground reporting. Sample stories remain labelled and should not be treated as verified news.
A visible corrections process
To report an error, send the article link, the passage in question and evidence supporting a correction through our Contact page. We assess the information against the source material. When a substantive correction is made, the article should include a dated note explaining what changed; developing information is identified as an update.
