Higher diesel costs are adding pressure throughout the supply chain, according to CTV News’ October 2 report by Kathy Le. The effects reach businesses that pay for deliveries even if they do not buy diesel themselves.

Evelyne Nyairo, founder of Calgary skincare company Ellie Bianca, told CTV that transportation expenses affect incoming ingredients, packaging and shipments to customers. She said the company was reducing staff hours and other costs to limit further price increases. Her account describes one business’s experience.

GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan told CTV diesel remained near record territory despite a recent easing. His comments describe conditions at the time of the report, not today’s price at every station.

Separately, Calgary police and Olds RCMP were investigating fuel thefts. Police had not established that higher prices caused those incidents. The outlook for diesel remains uncertain, with De Haan pointing to international supply disruptions as a key influence.
