Saskatchewan drone company Draganfly has announced a combined $10-million investment from an unnamed American firm and Unusual Machines, according to Katie Griffin’s BNN/CTV report published September 29 and updated September 30.
The company says the money will support hiring and expanded manufacturing capacity. It says no board seats or special rights are attached to the investments.
Donald Trump Jr. owns shares in Unusual Machines and joined that company as an adviser in November 2024, the report says. The funding is described as an investment by the firms, rather than a personal investment by Trump Jr.
Draganfly says it plans to expand to Edmonton and Ottawa and maintains U.S. operations in Tampa. The announcement follows a five-year contract awarded earlier in September to supply drones to the Canadian Armed Forces.
