The Department of Finance Canada announced on September 18, 2026 a $30-million loan commitment to Conifex Timber Inc. through the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan (LETL) facility. The support is intended to help the company adapt to tariff pressures and support workers in Mackenzie, B.C.

Finance Canada says Conifex supports 260 direct jobs and operates a sawmill and bioenergy plant, with most of its products destined for the United States. The announcement does not establish that funds have already been disbursed or guarantee employment levels.

The department also outlined broader LETL changes: financing covering up to 36 months of liquidity needs instead of 24, and maximum loan terms extended from 10 to 15 years.
