SailGP says its June 2026 Halifax event generated an estimated $64.7 million in total economic impact, according to CTV News Atlantic’s October 1 report. The organizer’s figure is nearly 4% above the estimate for the 2024 event.
The report describes around 12,000 ticketed spectators and more than 35,000 people watching along the harbour. SailGP said more than half of spectators came from outside Halifax, with non-local attendance rising 31% compared with 2024.
The figures offer the organizer’s assessment of the event’s reach. Total economic impact should not be confused with profit or net public benefit; the CTV report does not set out the model’s calculations or event costs.
Local sailing and business representatives welcomed the visitor interest. SailGP’s next Halifax event is scheduled for May 15–16, 2027, with 14 teams planned. As of the October 1 report, ticket sales were expected later in October.
